The moment he got his confidence back.
I never played sports so it's hard for me to teach him how to swing a bat, catch a ball, kick the goal, make the putt, or play good defense. I don't have that knowledge or those skills to share. So I leave it to my husband who does have that life experience and there are moments where I feel like I miss out on a lot of time with him.
But then, as he walks to the dug out and I can see he is nervous about the game, nervous about striking out again, nervous about his teams losing streak, I catch up to him and ask, "Do you remember what I said?"
He turns to me and says, "Yes, just have fun."
As he goes up to bat I hold my breath and do the only thing I know how to do, I watch him through the lens. When his bat makes contact I stop time so I can show him the moment he got his confidence back.
